TIMBER LVL   

LVL (Laminated-Veneer Lumber) is a directional board, which is paved with a single core board in the directional direction.  After high temperature and high pressure, fumigation-free is realized. 
The strength-to-weight ratio of LVL is better than that of steel. LVL  is a wood structural material, and its strength properties have a great influence on its application. According to the practical results, it is believed that although some properties of LVL lumber are not as good as the finished product, the LVL lumber makes the defects of the log itself (knots, cracks, decay, etc.) evenly distributed in the LVL . The average performance is better than that of finished products.It has the structural characteristics that solid wood sawn timber does not have: high strength, high toughness, good stability,and precise specifications, which is 3 times higher than solid wood sawn timber in terms of strength and toughness.

Compared with solid wood, LVL has the advantages of uniform structure, high strength, good dimensional stability, etc.,and can meet the use requirements of wood structure buildings, bridges, furniture and transportation fields.

(5) Processability
Machinable LVL is as easy to process as wood, and can be sawed, sliced, chiseled, tenoned and nailed.

(6) Stability
The laminated structure of LVL greatly reduces the possibility of deformation such as warping and twisting, so it has good stability.

(7) Vibration resistance
LVL has strong anti-vibration and damping properties, can resist fatigue damage caused by cyclic stress, and can be used as a structural material.

(8) Flame retardancy
Due to the time nature of the wood pyrolysis process and the glued structure of LVL, LVL as a structural material has better fire resistance than steel. A fire test conducted by Japan on an American-style wooden house shows that its fire resistance is not less than 2 hours, while the lighter steel structure will lose its support ability within 1 hour after being caught in a fire.


3.DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LVL AND PLYWOOD

The production process of LVL is very similar to the production process of plywood. The veneer preparation process in these two processes is almost the same. The biggest difference lies in the sections such as blanking, hot pressing and post-processing of the product.

A.The main difference is that the thickness of the veneer for LVL is relatively large, generally more than 3 mm; blank. LVL is mainly aimed at replacing sawn timber, emphasizing the enhancement of the longitudinal mechanical properties of the product, highlighting the anisotropy of wood, while plywood is the transformation of the anisotropy of natural wood, emphasizing the is isotropic.
